Weightlifting: Kazakhstan to host the World Championship for the first time

Kazakhstan will host the World Weight-Lifting Championship for the first time, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Talgat Yermegiyayev, head of the Agency of Sport and Physical Education. The weight-lifting tournament will be held in 2014 and it will become one of the qualification tournaments prior to 2016 Rio-de-Janeiro Olympic Games. “I hope our athletes won’t let us down and we will gain more Olympic spots than we gained for London Olympic Games,” the head of the Agency said with optimism. Kazakhstan weightlifters performed very successfully at London Olympics. They have won four gold medals out of seven gold medals that Kazakhstan national team won at London Olympics.
