Weightlifting: Doping tricks get Kazakhstan fined $500 thousand

Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation has been charged with a fine of $500 thousand for doping violations of severla Kazakhstan weightlifters, Megapolis reports. “According to the International Wrestling Federation Anti-doping Rules (section 12.3.1 . Paragraph G), if nine doping violations (9 doping cases) are committed by athletes of the same country within a 12-month period, then the National Federation of the country is obliged to pay a fine in the amount of $500 thousand. In case the Federation does not make the payment it may be suspended for a maximum period of 4 years,” Megapolis writes. If the Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation doesn’t make the payment, Kazakhstan's weightlifters will not participate in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016. Earlier this month the International Weightlifting Federation disqualified nine weightlifters from Kazakhstan. Their names turned up on the list of sportsmen, whose blood contained prohibited substances. The 2013 Asian Champion Alexandra Aborneva, the Asian Champion and silver winner of the Kazan Universiade Alexandr Zaichikov and the bronze medal winner of the Astana Continental Championship Yevgeny Evstafiyev were among the disqualified and will have to return the medals that they won at the competitions this year. The weightlifters will be deprived of their wages and expelled from the Kazakhstan national team.
