Kazakhstan’s team Astana won Asian Water Polo Clubs Championship among men’s teams, Vesti.kz reports. The championship was held on April 20-24 in Kuwait. Eight best Asian teams took part in the Water Polo Championship. Astana Water Polo team won over Kuwait’s Kazma team (20:8), Lebanon’s Sataliti (30:5) and Saudi Arabia’s Qadisia (12:5). It played against Sri Lanka’s Navy in the quarterfinals of the tournament and won 23:3. Kazakhstan’s water polo team defeated Iran’s NaftGaz (21:8) in the semifinal of the tournament. Astana water polo players played against Saudi Arabia’s El-Etihad team. This match was the most difficult match of the Championship for the Kazakhstan. However, Astana club won it with the score of 13:8. Earlier Kazakhstan men’s water polo national team became second in the 9th Asian Swimming Championship that was held in Dubai in 2012. Kazakhstan men’s water polo national team lost by penalties to China’s team in the final match of the group stage then.
