"What a fantastic day. My team was perfect all day and I really wanted to reward them with the win. I tried to get away twice on the climbs, but I was too closely marked and I realised that I would have to try something different, so I had another go on the descent from the Civiglio,"Nibali said via CyclingQuotes.

Nibali's impressive descent
The Italian cycler made a return with his victories at the Tour of Lombardy and Tre Valli Varesine after he was disqualification after Vuelta’s second stage for holding on the Astana Pro Team car for a couple of seconds.
"There have been difficult moments this year and not everything went right but I'm proud that I tried to fight back. I think fourth at the Tour de France was actually a good result. The Vuelta incident helped me dig up a lot of anger and I got rid of it on the bike and not in other ways," Nibali said via CyclingQuotes.
Tour of Lombardy is traditionally the last of the 5 "Monuments" of the cycling season and one of the last events of the UCI World Tour calendar. The one-day cycling race originated in 1905. The race is considered a cycling classic due to its distance of 255 km and a number of famous climbs such as Madonna del Ghissalo.
