Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Kazakh wrestler Aidos Sultangali on his historic gold medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
Competing in the 60 kg category, Sultangali defeated Uzbekistan’s Alisher Ganiev to claim the title.
“Congratulations to Aidos Sultangali on his brilliant victory at the World Championships! He became our first Greco-Roman world champion of this century. I wish our athletes continued success,” Tokayev wrote on Instagram.

This marks Kazakhstan’s first gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at a world championship since 1999, when Mkhitar Manukyan won in the 63 kg division.
Sultangali is also a two-time world bronze medalist, having earned podium finishes in 2018 and 2022.
