Who will Canelo target next? Gennady “Tripe G” Golovkin’s name was among the possible candidates for the next fight.
“Canelo will fight anybody. He proved it against Mayweather. He rpoved it against Lara. He proved it against Trout. He wants to fight guys that fighters don’t want to fight. He wants to fight them. And that’s what makes Canelo great,” the promoter of the 24 y.o. Mexican fighter Oscar De La Hoya of the Golden Boys said via BoxingScene.com.
De La Hoya added that Canelo would fight the undefeated Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin in the future. “Golovkin is no exception. He’s eventually going to fight Golovkin and the question is at what point do we lit him loose. The time will come,” the promoter said.
Meanwhile, De La Hoya advised Golovkin to target big names in the 168-weight division instead of 154 to become a pay-per-view fighter.
