Kazakhstan’s cross-country skier Aleksey Poltoranin won the men's 15-kilometer classical-style mass start race in a sprint finish that was held in La Clusaz, France. A big group of skiers followed Poltoranin through the whole distance and the main battle for the first place unfolded during the last meters of the race. Russia’s Alexander Bessmertnykh raised his hands to celebrate his victory, however Poltoranin was ahead of him by a mare 0.01 second. Initially after the race Bessmertnykh was registered first in the general ranking, but after the referees watched the video of the finish once again, it became clear that the Kazakhstan skier came first.
