Professional Rope Park Kazakh Alpine Park has opened at Shymbulak Ski Resort in the mountains near Almaty. Prominent Kazakhstan mountain climber Maksut Zhumayev, who conquered all 14 eight thousanders without bottled oxygen, is the organizer and director of the Park, Tengrinews.kz reports. This Rope Park is after a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most high-altitude mountain rope park in the world that was constructed on artificial props. According to the athlete, it took him and his team four months to construct the park. It consists of three levels, according to Zhumayev, the first one was designed for his child, the second one for his mother and the third one for his father, Zhumayev jokes. Not only extreme sports frequenters can reach the top of the park. Nonprofessionals can do it as well. Journalists, who attended the opening ceremony of the Park tried to conquer the top. However, some of the beginning athletes failed to pass through all stages and returned to the beginning of the route. The task seems simple at the first glance: to proceed from the first station to the last one across obstacle zones made of ropes and logs, then slide down a zip-line. However it turns out that the task of pass through all the obstacles is quite tough and labor-intensive. “This amusement will help to overcome one’s fear of heights and unlock children’s and adults’ potential. For me personally the Rope Park is one more step to the top, because I am closer to the sky when I’m at the top of the third level,” Maksut Zhumayev said about the project. “This is like an overobstacle course. Everyone has got his or her own Everest to conquer,” the athlete said adding that the documents for filing an application to the Guinness Book of World Records were ready. According to Zhumayev, the Park is built at height of 2200 meters above the sea level. The length of the Park for extreme sport frequenters is 170 meters, for an average visitor – 140 meters and 110 meters for children. The mountain climber added that the park had gone through several tests and was equipped by the most secure French-made belay. The wooden blocks that the park is made of also meet all the safety requirements. The park uses Saferoller's continuous belay system which is a permanent passive system with no carabiner. "We have excluded the human factor," Zhumayev said. By Linda Buran
