Saul “Canelo” Alvarez expressed interest in fighting Gennady Golovkin, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
Alvarez has signed a long-term contract with HBO for his return to the ring in December.
“I’m willing to fight anybody. The Cotto fight isn’t a done deal yet, and there are others who fight on HBO that fans want to see, Gennady Golovkin, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. The fight with Chavez is a good fight to make in Mexico or anywhere else,” Alvarez said.
Earlier, Alvarez trained along with Golovkin. “You know what, it was good sparring (against Golovkin). He’s a very strong fighter. He’s a very, very strong fighter. We helped each other out pretty much. What can I say about him? He’s not only a good fighter, he’s a nice person as well. He’s a very nice person, but honestly, this is a business; this is a sport. If I have to fight him, no problem,” the Mexican boxer told esnewsreporting.com.
Meanwhile, Golovkin’s next fight is scheduled to October 18 against Macro Antonio Rubio in Los Angeles. According to Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler, the tickets have been sold out. Loeffler hopes to get more seating for the fight.
