Roman Zhailauov, Kazakhstan's next boxing superstar
Possibly the next Golovkin in the making Roman Zhailauov from Kazakhstan has scored his 14th victory in the professional ring, Tengrinews reports.
The 20 y.o. Kazakhstani defeated his South African opponent Willis Baloyi by a unanimous decision in Kempton Park, South Africa.
Roman remains undefeated boasting 14 victories. Golden Gloves signed a contract with the Kazakhstani before the fight in South Africa.
Rodney Berman of Golden Gloves said that Zhailauov could be the next Golovkin.
The Shymkent native (south Kazakhstan) comes from an amateur pedigree like his famous countryman Triple G. He has had 150 amateur bouts since the age of 10. Zhailauov competes in the welterweight division (-66.7kg). He started his professional career in 2012 by winning the WBC Asian Boxing Council title and PABA (Pan Asian Boxing Association) title in the welterweight category.
