Tengrinews.kz – Spanish media claim that German specialist Jurgen Klopp may replace Xabi Alonso as head coach of Real Madrid. The decisive moment for the current coaching staff will be the match against Manchester City, according to El Mundo.
According to the outlet, after Real Madrid’s shocking 0:2 defeat to Celta, the club’s management held an emergency meeting regarding the team’s coaching staff.
Sources say that potential candidates for the job were named during the meeting.
“The meeting, which lasted until one in the morning, led to one conclusion: the match against Manchester City is Alonso’s last chance; the relationship between the locker room and the coach is beyond repair. And Real Madrid is already scouring the market for a replacement. Two names stand out among the favorites: Zinedine Zidane and Jurgen Klopp. At this meeting, the dismissal of the Basque coach was discussed in the most open and direct way this season,” the article states.
Over the past month, Real Madrid has lost its lead in the Spanish league and suffered defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League. In their latest La Liga match, Alonso’s team slipped up against modest Celta.
