The Silk Way Rally will go through Russia and Kazakhstan in 2014, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. The 6th edition of the Silk Way Rally will start from the Red Square in Moscow, Russia on July 4, 2014. The organizers have significantly expanded the geography of the race and now it includes a loop stage in Kazakhstan and passes through Kazan, the capital city of Tatarstan. The race will finish at the Astrakhan Kremlin on July 12, 2014. The total length of the race will make 5000 km with 3500 km of special sections. French pilot Jean-Louis Schlesser and Russian navigator Konstantin Zhiltsov on Sonangol Schlesser Original became winners of the Silk Way 2013 rally raid, . Kazakhstan's pilot Kanat Shagirov and navigator Alexandr Moroz finished in the 16th place on Hummer H3 Evo-6. The Russian crew of Dmitry Sotnikov, Viatcheslav Mizyukaev and Andrei Aferin won the truck race, driving a Kamaz truck. The Silk Way Rally is an annual off-road rally raid. The first Silk Way Rally was raced in 2009 from Kazan, Russia to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. However, since 2010 all the editions have taken place in Russia.
