Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yerbol Myrzabosynov, announced an agreement with the International Judo Federation (IJF) to host the World Championship.
The minister made this announcement during a working visit to Budapest, Hungary. According to Myrzabosynov, he met with IJF President Marius Vizer and confirmed several important agreements.
“Agreements have been reached to host the World Judo Championship in Kazakhstan in 2027. This is not only a great honor for the country but also a good opportunity for Kazakhstan’s athletes to showcase themselves and strengthen their positions ahead of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles,” the minister stated.
Additionally, during the meeting, a decision was made to open a representation of the IJF Academy in Kazakhstan.
It is worth noting that Kazakhstan previously hosted the World Judo Championship in 2015, which took place at the capital's "Alau" Ice Palace, resulting in a gold and a silver medal for the country.
Recall that the only gold medal for Kazakhstan at the Paris Olympic Games was also won by a judo representative. Yeldos Smetov became the Olympic champion in the under 60 kg weight category on the first competition day of the Games in Paris.
