Kazakhstan crew Astana has kicked off in the first stage of Dubai Rally World Cup, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the press-office of the team. Astana crew drives a new off-road car in this rally. The race will last until April 10. “The main task for us is to check up the technical capacities of our new vehicle. The toughest test can be made only in a real race. It is impossible to fully test a vehicle in artificial conditions,” Arthur Ardavichus, Astana captain said. The team was late for the start because the vehicle experienced some technical problems. The vehicle's fuel supply pressure sensor was out of order and the team failed to start off the car immediately. These problems have been already fixed, but Astana got a large time penalty. It will be hardly possible to compete for the first place with such a penalty history now, the racers said. Astana crew led by Ardavichus made it to the third place in truck class in Dakar-2012, the most prestigious world rally race this season. Kazakhstan crew is planning to take part in Argentinean Dakar – 2013 race with six vehicles next year.
