Norway's capital Oslo has officially become a competitor of Kazakhstan's Almaty in the 2022 Winter Olympics bid, Tengrinews reports citing R-Sport. The Norwegian Olympic Committee announced that they submitted to IOC their bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics on November 13, 2013. Norwegian capital Oslo that hosted the 1952 Winter Olympics is planing to spend $5.32 billion on organization of the Olympic Games is if wins the bid. "We are planning a very compact, low-cost Olympics," Norway's Olympic committee spokesman Per Toeien said. Kazakhstan's Almaty was the first city to submit its application to bid for hosting of the Winter Olympics 2022 on August 16, 2013. The Poland together with Slovakia (Kraków and Jasna cities), China (Beijing and Zhangjiakou cities), Ukraine (Lviv city), Sweden (Stockholm) also declared their intentions to bid. Residents of Munich rejected the bid to host the 2022 winter Olympics at the referendum. The IOC Executive Board will review the bids from all the applicant cities in July 2014 and then select the candidate cities. The host city will be selected one year later, on 31 July 2015, at the 127th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur.
