23-y.o. Kazakhstan female boxer Marina Volnova (75kg women’s middle) has reached the semifinal of the London Olympic boxing tournament, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Vesti.kz. Volnova won over the current world champion Savannah Marshall of Britain with the score of 16:12. The first two rounds ended in a draw 4:4, 3:3. Kazakhstan boxer beat her rival 3:1 in the third round and maintained her lead 6:4 in the final round of the match. Kazakhstan's -84kg Greco-Roman wrestler Daniyal Gajiyev won the first Olympic bronze medal for Kazakhstan. He won over Vladimir Gegeshidze from Georgia. Gadzhiyev’s medal is the 7th one for Kazakhstan national team. Earlier Kazakhstan Olympians won 6 gold medals. Cyclist Aleksandre Vinokourov, weightlifters Zulfiya Chinshanlo, Maiya Maneza, Svetlana Podobedova and Ilya Ilyin and athlete Olga Rypakova became Olympic champions. Kazakhstan is currently ranked eight by medal count with 6 gold and 1 bronze medal.
