23-y.o. Marina Volnova, Kazakhstan professional women’s middleweight (75-kg) boxer, has won her first match in London Olympics, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Vesti.kz. Marina convincingly won over Kenyan Elizabeth Andiego with the total score of 20:11 (6:3, 5:3, 6:2, 3:3) after four rounds of the match. Through this victory Marina advanced to the quarterfinals of the London Olympic boxing tournament. Marina will fight against British Savannah Marshall, host boxer and the leader of the tournament, on August 6. Earlier another Kazakhstan boxer Saida Khassenova (60-kg women’s light) left the Olympic Games by losing the match to Brazil’s Adriana Araujo. Marina Volnova went into boxing seven years ago (earlier she was engaged in judo). She won a gold medal in 2010 Asian Championship, silver medal in 2010 World Boxing Championship. She is four-time champion of Kazakhstan Boxing Championship. She was born in Kazalinsk (a town in Kyzylorda oblast). Her favorite boxer is Mike Tyson.
