Kazakhstan's freestyle skier Yuliya Gelysheva has successfully qualified for the finals in mogul skiing at Rosa-Khutor Extreme Park, Tengrinews reports from Sochi. She is in the 6th place in the ladies' mogul skiing standings with 21.17 points. Besides the Kazakh freestyler, American athletes Hannah Kearney and Eliza Outtrim, Audrey Robichaud and Chloe sisters, Justine and Maxime Dufour-Lapointe from Canada, French freestyler Perrine Laffont, Japanese Aiko Uemura and Regina Rakhimova of Russia entered the Top10 of the mogul skiing qualification. The other 20 athletes will have a chance to qualify on February 8. Yuliya’s teammate from Kazakhstan Darya Rybalova failed to enter the Top10, she only gained the 23rd place, but she will have one more chance to qualify. Yuliya's mother Svetlana Galysheva and fiance Vasiliy Putintsev came over to Sochi to support her at the Winter Olympics. Her mother was among those who got a $1,000 Visa gift card from Procter & Gamble Kazakhstan. The company sends the gifts to Olympic athletes' mothers as part of its global promotion campaign called Thank You Mom. "I talked with my daughter on the phone a few times. Yuliya feels great and said she trained hard and was ready for the start. But, she said that the track is difficult. She was more worried about us and our accommodation here, however," her mother said before the qualifications round. Yuliya knows Vasiliy Putintsev since they went to school together. They are now studying at the Academy of Sports and Tourism in Almaty together. Vasiliy used to be a rower. "I believe in Yuliya," he said in Sochi. Yuliya Galysheva is a two-time Champion of the Asian Games 2010 in freestyle, a medal winner of World Cup Stages and a participant of the Olympic Games in Vancouver. The Winter Olympic Games officially open in Sochi, Russia on February 7. Yuiiya will be attending the opening together with her family. The opening ceremony will be held at the Fisht Olympic Stadium. It is expected that nearly 5 million tourists will visit Sochi during the Olympics. P&G Company first launched the Thank You Mom campaign at the London Summer Olympics 2012. To promote the campaign the company released a special commercial showing mothers of Olympic athletes encourage their children.
