Kazakhstan female weightlifters Zulfiya Chinshanlo, Maya Maneza and Svetlana Podobedova who became 2012 London Olympic champions, got Toyota Land Cruiser-200 and 10 million tenge ($67,000) each, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Almaty Oblast’s Akimat (oblast’s authorities) press-service. “The triumphant honoring of the 2012 London Olympic champions female weightlifters Zulfiya Chinshanlo, Maya Maneza and Svetlana Podobedova was held at Taldykorgan Central Stadium on Wednesday, August 16. Ansar Mussakhanov, Akim (Governor) of Almaty oblast, congratulated the champions during the ceremony and presented Toyota Land Cruiser-200 cars and 10 million tenge certificates ($67,000) to each of the champion,” Akimat’s press-service reported on Wednesday. The oblast’s administration officials said that the weightlifting staff of coaches was awarded for their merits as well. The head coach of Kazakh national weightlifting team Aleksey Ni and senior coach of Almaty oblast weightlifting team Victor Ni were awarded with 5 million tenge certificates ($33,784) and the Honorary Citizen of Almaty Oblast titles. The Akimat officials presented them with LG TV sets. Kairat Turlykhanov, Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation president, was awarded with the Honorary Citizen of Almaty Oblast title as well. Ivan Sivokhin, Kazakhstan weightlifting team coach, also got a certificate worth 5 million tenge ($33.784), Akimat’s press-service said. Other seven Almaty oblast’s athletes who participated in the London Olympic Games (Greco-Roman wrestlers Nurmakhan Tynaliyev, Dauren Zhumagaziyev and Askhat Dilmukhamedov, track-and-field athletes Artyom Kossinov, Aiman and Sholpan Kozhakhmetovas, and archer Denis Gankin were presented with LG TV sets as well. Olympic champions honoring ceremony continued with a concert of Kazakhstan pop stars and was finalized with fireworks, the Akimat’s press-service reported.
