Tengrinews.kz – Kairat head coach Rafael Urazbakhtin shared his thoughts on the team’s next Champions League match and reflected on the reasons behind their earlier defeat, the club’s press service reported.
Speaking at a press conference after Kairat’s 3:1 league win over Zhenis, Urazbakhtin was asked what result would be considered a success against Real Madrid.
"Successful? Well, of course, a win. That’s a successful result. But for us, it’s not only about the score – it’s about the way we play. If we look back at the match in Lisbon, there were moments when we performed quite well. Yes, the opponent was much stronger in terms of class, but our players proved that at times we looked solid, created chances, and even scored. That alone is progress, considering the level of the opponent," Urazbakhtin said.
The coach added that against a team like Real, consistency and concentration will be key.
"We spent a lot of energy and at one point simply lost focus. With opponents of this caliber, you need to stay fresh and fully concentrated," he stressed.
Kairat lost 1:4 to Sporting in Lisbon in their Champions League debut. Now, on September 30, the most decorated club in the competition’s history – Real Madrid – will play in Almaty.
Ticket sales for the match open on September 23 at 5:00 p.m., with prices ranging from 30,000 to 250,000 tenge depending on the sector, according to the club’s press service.
