Tengrinews.kz – The long-awaited Champions League match between Almaty’s Kairat and Spanish giants Real Madrid ended in a heavy 5:0 defeat for the Kazakh club.
Mbappé hat-trick silences Central Stadium
The match, part of the second round of the group stage, brought together star players on both sides, including Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Dastan Satpayev, and Sherkhan Kalmurza.
Real took the lead in the 25th minute when Mbappé converted a penalty. He added two more goals in the second half, completing his hat-trick with strikes in the 52nd and 74th minutes.
Kairat briefly had hope when the referee awarded them a penalty, but the decision was overturned after a VAR review.
Despite substitutions from coach Rafael Urazbakhtin — including appearances from Baibek, Edmilson, Stanoev, Ricardinho and the returning Zaria — the team was unable to turn the tide.
Eduardo Camavinga made it 4:0 in the 83rd minute, before Brahim Díaz sealed the final score in stoppage time.
Historic but painful night
For Real Madrid, it was the club’s first-ever match in Kazakhstan. For Kairat, the game marked their debut home fixture in the Champions League group stage — a historic moment, even if the dream of upsetting Europe’s most decorated club ended in disappointment.
