New stadium in Almaty: design sketches, location, and construction start

Tengrinews.kz – The construction of a modern international-level stadium is planned in Almaty, according to the press service of the Almaty Akimat.

The stadium will meet UEFA Category 4 requirements and will have a capacity of 35,000 seats.

The project includes training facilities, fan recreation areas, and modern security systems.

It is noted that the stadium will be built between the Kulzhinsky and Talgar highways on an area of nearly 15 hectares.

For the convenience of spectators and guests, the area where the project will be implemented will become an important transport and logistics hub of the city.

“By order of the President, we must accelerate the work. Next year, construction and installation works must begin. In the future, a metro station and a logistics hub for Almaty are planned to be built here,” emphasized Almaty Akim Darkhan Satybaldy.

The Central Stadium, built more than 65 years ago, will be preserved and modernized — taking into account athletic infrastructure, to continue the city’s sporting legacy.

It should be noted that in April 2025, former Almaty Akim Yerbolat Dossayev announced plans for the reconstruction of the Central Stadium, with an increase in capacity to 35,000 people. The reconstruction was expected to be completed in 2027.
