Three-day Jeiran-trophy bicycle race will be held in Almaty oblast on April 30 - May 2. The race is organized by Almaty nonprofessional cyclists. The route's length is 240 kilomentres, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Timur Dzhurkashev, the organizer of this sports event. The bicycle race will be held in extreme weather conditions. The participants will have to overcome 240 kilometres, pass through Sogaty and Zhalanash valleys, and ascend the eastern part of Zailiyskiy Alatau range. The race is held to promote mountain biking in Kazakhstan and to develop the tourism. The race has become popular in Kazakhstan and neighboring states (Russia and Kyrgyzstan). It is held every year starting from 2008. The number of participants has tripled during four years of competition. About 50 people aged up to 60 will take part in the race in 2011.
