Kazakhstan sport authorities have promised to find a fiance for weight-lifter Maiya Maneza for her London Olympic victory, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Astana Tourism, Physical Education and Sport Department’s press-service.
When Maiya Maneza was asked what sport authorities had promised her for the Olympic victory, the weight-lifter answered: “A fiance.” Abylkhan Sarsenbayev, general director of International Tourism Agency (the official carrier of Kazakhstan national team’s fans) has already presented two air tickets to any destination in the world to the athlete and her future boy-friend on behalf of his company.
Maneza won the third Olympic gold for Kazakhstan. She performed in -63kg category and set a new Olympic record by lifting a combined total of 245 kilograms. The President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated the athlete on her victory by sending her a congratulatory telegram.
“I’d like to thank the President for the attention he has devoted to us. I will be looking forward to new victories of Podobedova and Ilyin at the Games,” Maneza said.
“We promised to strive hard for the awards and we have lived up to our promises. I am satisfied with the results and the fact that we haven’t let our fans and the country down. I’d like to thank our fans for the huge support that they are providing to our athletes,” Aleksey Ni, chief coach of Kazakhstan national weight-lifting team said.
Kazakhstan professional cyclist Alexandre Vinokourov and one more weight-lifter Zulfiya Chinshanlo brought gold medals to Kazakhstan earlier. Kazakhstan sport authorities promised Zulfiya Chinshanlo a gift of one kilogram of ice-cream for her Olympic victory. And Vinokourov is planning to take his gold winning bike back to Kazakhstan and auction it out.
