WBA (Super), WBC (Interim) and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin will step into the ring in February 2015 in Monaco, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
In Monte Carlo, GGG (31-0, 28 KOs) could face a British boxer Martin Murray (28-1, 12 KOs). According to Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler it depends on the results of Murray’s next fight.
“If Martin Murray wins next week, that’s a natural. Gennady has fought (in Monte Carlo) twice, I think it is the second or third time for Murray to fight there, that’s a natural. (…) Martin Murray makes a lot of sense,” Loeffler said.
Murray will face an Italian boxer Domenico Spada on October 25 for the second time in Monaco. Earlier, the British boxer was considered among Golovkin’s opponents, but he could not have a fight in the USA due to visa issues. This time, HBO is willing to broadcast the fight from Monaco.
On October 19, Golovkin faced a Mexican boxer Marco Antonio Rubio in a title unifying fight in Carson, California. The Kazakhstani sent Rubio onto the canvas in the second round.
