Tengrinews.kz – Olympic bronze medalist and 2021 world champion Saken Bibossynov made a stunning professional debut, knocking out his opponent in the first round during a boxing event in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Fighting in the flyweight division (up to 52.1 kg), Bibossynov faced Filipino boxer Christian Legane in a bout scheduled for six rounds. However, the Kazakh fighter needed less than one to secure victory with a decisive knockout.
Bibossynov, a decorated amateur, rose to prominence after clinching a world championship title in Belgrade in 2021 and earning a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. His achievements also include a bronze at the 2019 World Championships, silver at the 2022 Asian Championships, and bronze in 2021. He reached the quarterfinals at the Paris 2024 Olympics before transitioning to the professional ring.
