Ilya Iliyn, Kazakhstan's most celebrated weightlifter, has authored another World Record, Tengrinews reports.
Iliyn achieved a record in clean and jerk in London with 233 kg. Later, at the World Championship in 2014, Iliyn updated the record with 242 kg in clean and jerk.
During this night's training, Iliyn set another record by lifting 250 kg in clean and jerk.
"Night training. Clean and jerk – 250 kg. World record!!!" Iliyn posted on his Instagram page early in the morning today.
Ilya Ilyin is a Kazakhstani weightlifter who has won two Olympic championships and four world championships. He is currently the world and Olympic record holder in both the clean and jerk (233 kg) and the overall total (418 kg) in the 94 kg class. In November 2014, Ilyin clean and jerked 242 kg setting a new world record in the -105 kg class. He is Kazakhstan's first two-time Olympic champion.
He will be representing Kazakhstan in -105 kg class at the Rio Olympics 2016 in August.
International experts forecast that at the upcoming Olympics Iliyn would win a silver medal, not gold. After reading their statement, the two-time Olympic Champion from Kazakhstan said he was 99.9% sure that he would bring his country another gold.
With rigorous trainings such as this one, Iliyn it seems will not only bring gold but will set his third official world record.
