Kazakhstan’s athletes will receive $3100 for champion titles at the 27th Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia, Vesti.kz reports citing Secretary General of the Sport Federation of Kazakhstan Zhansur Akedilov. The 27th Summer Universiade is a huge sporting event with over 13,500 University athletes from over 170 countries participating in 27 different summer sports. Kazakh athletes will participate in 14 sports. Besides, traditional athletics, weightlifting, shooting and fencing, Kazakh athletes will compete in exotic belt wrestling. The exact number of sportsmen who will represent Kazakhstan is not known yet. “We made up a preliminary list of athletes, but it is yet to be approved, and some changes and replacements are possible. The final list will be available in a couple of weeks,” Zhansur Akedilov said. According to Akedilov, the monetary awards may be raise. For example, Russian champions of these competitions will receive $5500. The Universiade will held on July 6-17 in Kazan. Kazakhstan was 45th with 6 medals (no gold) at the latest Universiade in Shenzhen, China.
