Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstani freestyle wrestler Nurkozha Kaipanov won the gold medal at the Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Amman, winning the final, according to Olympic.kz.
In the decisive bout in the 74-kilogram weight category, Kaipanov was stronger than Orozobek Toktomambetov from Kyrgyzstan. The match ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of the Kazakhstani wrestler.
Last year, Kaipanov won the world championship in non-Olympic weight categories, becoming the best in the 70-kilogram division.
Another Kazakhstani wrestler, Bolat Sakayev, lost to Iranian Abolfazl Rahmani in the final and took the silver. The bout in the 86-kilogram weight category ended with the opponent winning with a score of 11-4.
Azamat Dauletbekov, competing in the 92-kilogram weight category, won bronze at the Asian Championship. In the fight for third place, the Kazakh wrestler was stronger than Sherzod Poenov from Uzbekistan.
Thus, the Kazakhstan national freestyle wrestling team has five medals at the Asian Championship in Amman. The day before, Rizabek Aitmukhan in the 97-kilogram weight category won second, and Rakhat Kalzhan, competing in the 57-kilogram weight category, won bronze.
