Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstani figure skater Sofia Samodelkina performed her free program in the final of the Asian Games in Harbin (China).
Following the short program, the 17-year-old figure skater was in fourth place, 12 points behind the leading Japanese Kaori Sakamoto.
In the free program, Sofia managed to skate her program without falls, but an error was made in one of the elements, which did not allow her to show the maximum result. In total, the figure skater earned 188.43 points. This was enough to hold on to fourth place, but the medals went to representatives of Japan and South Korea.
Another Kazakhstani figure skater, Sofiya Farafonova, took 10th place with a score of 125.27 points.

Sofia Samodelkina is the ninth single skater in the world to land a quadruple jump in official competitions. Sofia won the Russian Junior Cup Final (2020), the Denis Ten Memorial (2021) in junior competitions, and also became the silver medalist of the World Junior Grand Prix in Slovenia.
In 2023, the figure skater decided to obtain Kazakhstani citizenship, since her mother was born in Kazakhstan. In July, at the Summer Kazakhstan Figure Skating Championships, Samodelkina became the country's champion for the first time.
Last year, Sofia Samodelkina decided to end her collaboration with Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko and moved to the United States to train with the renowned specialist Rafael Arutyunyan.
