Tengrinews.kz – The Kazakhstan national boxing team has won ten medals at the World Boxing Championship in Liverpool, England, including seven golds, topping the overall medal standings.

Tengrinews.kz – The Kazakhstan national boxing team has won ten medals at the World Boxing Championship in Liverpool, England, including seven golds, topping the overall medal standings.

During the night of September 14 to 15, the first-ever World Boxing Championship held under the auspices of the newly formed organization World Boxing came to a close. Kazakhstan’s national team topped the overall medal standings.

Medal Standings – 2025 World Boxing Championship, Liverpool

  1. Kazakhstan: 7 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze;
  2. Uzbekistan: 6 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze;
  3. India: 2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze;
  4. Brazil: 1 gold, 3 silver;
  5. Poland: 1 gold, 2 silver.

World Boxing Champions from Kazakhstan

In total, Kazakhstan's team won 7 gold medals across ten women’s and ten men’s weight classes. The women’s team won the overall medal table, while the men’s team finished in second place.

The first gold medal was won by Sanzhar Tashkenbay in the 50 kg weight category.

Makhmud Sabyrkhan followed up with a gold medal in the 55 kg category.

Alua Balkibekova brought home gold after defeating a renowned Turkish opponent in the 51 kg category.

In the 65 kg category, Aida Abikeeva beat a boxer from Uzbekistan and claimed the gold.

19-year-old Torekhan Sabyrkhan became a world champion at his debut tournament.

Natalya Bogdanova won the final match in the 70 kg category, securing first place in the women's medal tally.

In the final bout of the entire tournament, Aibek Oralbay defeated Jakhongir Zokirov from Uzbekistan, earning Kazakhstan its seventh and decisive gold medal.

Kazakhstan had 4 women and 4 men reach the semifinals. Bronze medals were won by:

  • Viktoria Grafeeva in the 60 kg category;
  • Yeldana Talipova in the over 80 kg category.
