On September 5, the final judo competition in the under-48kg category (Class J) took place at the Paris Paralympics. Nauatbek faced off against Sandrine Martinet, the defending Paralympic champion from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and a representative of France.
At the 48-second mark, Nauatbek executed an uchi-mata-gaeshi (counter throw) to score a waza-ari. Then, in the third minute of the bout, she applied a sankaku-jime (triangle choke) and earned another waza-ari, which was upgraded to an ippon, ending the fight.
The Kazakh athlete won the match with a score of 10:0.
In the semifinals, Akmaral Nauatbek defeated Turkish judoka Cagide Eke with an ippon.
Kazakhstan's medal tally at the Paralympics now stands at four: a gold medal in powerlifting from David Degtyarev, a silver in shooting by Yerkin Gabbasov in the 10m air rifle event, and a bronze in shot put.
