Kazakhstan volleyball team wins Cuba at FIVB World Grand Prix in Almaty

Kazakhstan women national team gained its first and only victory in the FIVB World Grand Prix preliminary round, Vesti.kz reports. The volleyball team of Kazakhstan playing at home and supported by it fans won over the volleyball team of Cuba 3-1 (25:20, 17:25, 30:28, 25:20) at Baluan Sholak Palace of Culture and Sports in Almaty. The Kazakhstan team used to play against the Cuban team before - in 2008 and 2008 - and lost (0:3) on both accounts. Two days before that match with Cuba the Kazakhstan team lost to Netherlands (3-0) and on August 18 the Kazakhstan team lost to Brazil (3-0) who also competed in the K Group. The matches also took place in Almaty. Before that the Kazakhstan volleyball team lead by its coach Alexander Gutor lost in six matches in Italy and Poland during this year's tournament. But the team managed to score one point vs. Argentina. As a result the Kazakhstan national team ended the FIVB World Grand Prix campaign in the 17th place with 4 points. The team had a total of 9 games.
