Tengrinews.kz – The 2027 World Taekwondo Championships will be held in Astana, marking the first time the tournament takes place in Central Asia.

The decision was officially announced during a World Taekwondo (WT) council meeting in Wuxi, China.

“In recent years, Kazakh taekwondo has made tremendous progress. Hosting the World Championships is not only a sporting milestone for us but also a great honor and responsibility. Holding the event ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles will be an important stage for our country and a recognition of Kazakhstan’s contribution to the global development of taekwondo,” said Kudrat Shamiev, President of the Kazakhstan Taekwondo Federation (WT).
