Kazakhstan national Muay Thai team brought two gold, two silver and four bronze medals from Turkey, where European Muay Thai Championship was held, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Vice-president of Kazakhstan Muay Thai Federation Farkhat Amankulov. 31 countries took part in the continental competition. Kazakhstan was represented by nine boxers. Gold medals were won by Didar Bulatov (Mini Flyweight) and Almaz Smagulov (Middleweight). Medet Rakhmetov (Super Lightweight) and Damir Fatkhutdinov (Super Middleweight) won silver. Bronze medals were brought home by Bogembai Kusperov (Light Flyweight), Rauan Kaldybayev (Super Flyweight), Daniyar Tleukhanov (Featherweight) and Darkhan Kaziyev (Lightweight). By total team score Kazakhstan is ranked the 4th in European Championship. As per Amankulov, the team performed well. The schedule was very tight as in the last month the team took part in the President's Cup and Asian Championship. “We made it to final with seven other national teams, including Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. Every medal was fought for. We are missing just one medal to take the third place in the overall team score,” he said. Currently the national team is preparing for the coming world championship in September.
