Kazakhstan national hockey team has gained the second victory at the Euro Ice Hockey Challenge held in French city of Briancon, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. The national team of Kazakhstan faced the Denmark team and ended the match with the score of 4:3 on February 7. Hockey players Roman Starchenko, Fedor Polishuk, Mikhail Panshin and Nikolai Antropov of the Kazakhstan team were the stars of the match. Kazakhstan played against France during the first game. The match finished with the score of 4:2 in favor of Kazakhstan. It was a debut victory for Ari-Pekka Selin, the Finnish coach of the Kazakhstan national team. Unfortunately, Kazakhstan failed to beat Germany in the match for the first place in the group on February 8. The game ended with the score of 4:1 in favor of the German team. The Euro Ice Hockey Challenge is a yearly series of national ice hockey tournaments, organized during the international breaks defined in the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) calendar in November, December, and February. Tournaments are played in different locations in Europe and sometimes involve teams from outside of Europe, usually Japan. The participants are the ice hockey national teams of countries that are themselves at or around the level of the IIHF World Championship Division I. It is a second-tier equivalent to tournaments of the Euro Hockey Tour.
