Kazakhstan hockey team skates into semi finals of Universiade

The Kazakhstan hockey team has qualified for the semi finals of the Universiade in Tretino, Italy, Universiade website. In the quarterfinals, the Kazakhstan team creamed the Latvian hockey team 6:1. Alexander Shin of the Kazakhstan team opened the match with the first goal 3:51 into the first period. Kovzalov and Zubkov each scored to finish the first period with 3:0. Metalnikov and Lipin were given penalties for tripping and delaying the game. At the 17th minute of the first period, Latvian Legzdins was given his first penalty for tripping. Ignatenko scored another one for Kazakhstan in the 2nd period. Finally, at 25:32 Latvian hockey player Batracks scored Kazakhstan a goal. Unfortunately for Latvia that was their first and last goal in the match. Metalnikov and Rymarev from the Kazakhstan team scored 2 more in the 3rd period. Latvia lost 1:6 to Kazakhstan. At the preliminaries, Kazakhstan won Ukraine, Japan and Canada. The team's Head Coach Vladimir Pluschchev’s says that the hockey players will face the winner of the Italy-USA match on December 20, 2013.
