Kazakhstan 2012 Olympic weight-lifting squad

Kazakhstan weight-lifting staff of coaches named the athletes who would participate in 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Vesti.kz. The final national weight-lifting squad was formed according based on the results of Kazakhstan Championship that was held in Taldykorgan. Olympic champion Ilya Ilyin, 94-kilogram weight league athlete will travel to London this summer. He lifted 410 kilograms in total at the Taldykorgan championship, including 180 kilograms in snatch and 230 kilograms in clean and jerk. Ilyin won gold in Beijing Olympics, where he lifted four kilograms less than in Taldykorgan Championship. One more Kazakhstan weight-lifter Almas Uteshev (94-kilogram weight league) will represent Kazakhstan in the Olympic Games as well. He lifted five kilograms less than Ilyin in total, including 180 kilograms in snatch and 225 kilograms in clean and jerk. Arly Chontay (56 kilogram weight league) gained an Olympic spot by lifting 292 kilograms, including 132 kg in snatch and 160 kg in clean and jerk. Farkhad Kharkhi (62 kilogram weight league) will take part in the Olympics. He lifted up 317 kilograms, including 137 kg in snatch and 180 in clean and jerk. As for the women weight-lifting squad, four Kazakhstan athletes will take part in London Olympic Games: two-time world champion Zulfiya Chinshanlo (53 kilogram weight league), another two-time world champion Maya Maneza (63 kilogram weight league), world Championships winner Svetlana Podobedova (75 kilogram weight league) and Anna Nurmukhanbetova (69 kilogram weight league).
