Zarina Diyas is the first native of Kazakhstan to reach the Top 50 of the rating. Earlier, only naturalized athletes - Yaroslava Shvedova, Galina Voskoboeva and Ksenia Pervak (all of them from Russia) – were able to enter the list. The latter, incidentally, is no longer playing under the flag of Kazakhstan.
Zarina’s achievements this year include reaching the 1/8 finals at Wimbledon and making it to the finals in the ITF (International Tennis Federation) tournament held in Nottingham.
Earlier this month, Zarina beat Yaroslava Shvedova in the WTA ranking to become the first racket of Kazakhstan.
Zarina Diyas, 20 has won four singles on the ITF tour in her career. On August 18 2014, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 46. On July 7 2014, she peaked at world number 301 in the doubles rankings.
Diyas made her debut for the Kazakhstan Fed Cup team in 2009.
