Kazakh judoka Maxim Rakov wins silver at Asian Games in South Korea

Kazakh judoka Maxim Rakov has earned silver at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. He competed in the 100 kg weight league.

Kazakh judoka Maxim Rakov has earned silver at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz. He competed in the 100 kg weight league.

In the final round, 2009 World Champion Maxim Rakov lost to 2008 Olympic champion Naidan Tuvshinbayar from Mongolia with a final score of 2:3.

Kazakh judokas won a total of 5 medals at the Asian Games. Yeldos Smetov won gold, Maxim Rakov hauled silver, Azamat Mukanov, Lenariya Mingazova and Marian Urdabayeva earned bronze.

Maxim Rakov was born in 1986 in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. He is a mupltiple champion of Kazakhstan, the World Champion of 2009, the Asian Champion of 2009, bronze winner of the Asian Games in 2010 in China. He was a front-runner of the 2012 London Olympics, but lost to Azerbaijan judoka Elmar Gasimov in the 1/16 finals.
