Five days before the start of the Olympics, the 29-year-old Kazakhstani named himself champion of the Paris Games.

In the qualification round, Maymuratov started seventh on lane "A," facing Iranian athlete Reza Alipur Shahnazandifard. Amir achieved the best result of 4.89 seconds, breaking the Olympic record.

Based on the rankings, all climbers will be placed in either qualification or elimination rounds.

Amir is the only athlete representing Kazakhstan in this discipline. He finished 27th at the last World Championships and seventh at the 2022 Asian Games.
