Kazakhstani boxer Kanat Islam (19-0, 16 KOs) has defeated Orlando de Jesus Estrada and increased his rating in the super welterweight division, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
The Islam-Estrada fight took place on March 24 in Barranquilla, Colombia. The undefeated Kazakhstani sent his opponent to the canvas two times. In the 5th round, Islam TKOed Estrada and retained his WBA Fedelatin super welterweight title.
The 30 y.o. Kazakhstani improved his standing in the Boxrec.com rating. After the victory over Estrada, Kanat went up from the 81st place to the 79th. Estrada, 31, in turn, lost two lined and landed on the 350th place of the ranking.
“I thank my fans, my country and our President Nursultan Nazarbayev. I’m immensely thankful to Baurzhan Ospanov for his support,” the boxer said after the victory.
Islam shared that his coach instructed him to give some space to his opponent.
Kanat Islam plans to have his next fight in the USA. The dates and the opponent have not been announced yet.
“I am returning to Miami where I train and prepare for fights. I want to have my next fight in the USA. My team and promoter are currently working on it. We have a solid team and have set serious goals,” the boxer said.
