Kazakhstani judoka Yeldos Smetov has won a gold medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
Smetov competed in the Men’s -60 kilos on September 20. During the first elimination rounds, the Kazakhstani judoka won Kabatullo Aminov from Tajikistan. In the quarterfinals, Smetov took down Yu Kin Ting from Hong Kong with an ippon on the 37th second. In the semifinals, he beat Japanese judoka Toru Shishime.
In the finals, the 22 y.o. judoka scored an ippon on the 2:57 second against Boldbaatar Gambat from Mongolia and earned the gold of the Asian Games.
Kazakhstan is currently at the fourth place with 9 gold, 11 silver and 20 bronze medals. China is in the first place, Sourth Korea in the second place and Japan in the third place.
