Kazakhstan judoka Azamat Mukanov has been awarded with 12.5 million tenge ($81 thousand) for gaining the silver medal at the World Championship in Brazil, Vesti.kz reports. It was the only medal that Kazakhstan national team managed to win at the championship. The athlete received the awared during the open Judo Grand-Prix in Almaty. The award was funded by Kazakhstan Judo Federation and Confederation of Combat and Strength Sports of Kazakhstan. Azamat Mukanov represented the -66kg weight division. Azamat won over Georgii Zantaraia from Ukraine in the semifinals, but lost his final combat to Japanese athlete Masashi Ebinuma. Earlier Mukamov won medals in sambo. He won the champion title at the World Sambo Championship and won several medals at world tournaments.
