Invincible Golovkin defends his World Middleweight title and KOs Stevens

Gennady Golovkin has beaten American boxer Curtis Stevens to retain his WBA world middleweight title, Vesti.kz reports. Golovkin, the unbeaten boxer from Kazakhstan, ended his 28th fight at Madison Square Garden arena in New York with a technical knockout. At the end of the eights round the referee decided to stop the fight due to Stevens’ condition. Recovering from a second round knockdown, Stevens missed too many hits and returned only few counter shots. Gennady’s deadly left hook blasted Stevens and decided the following rounds. Stevens managed to land several blows, but Golovkin was undoubtedly controlling the ring the whole time. Golovkin, 31, defended his WBA World Middleweight title, once again reminding us of his zero loses and 25 KOs. For Stevens, 28, the fight with Golovkin marked his 4th loss in 29 fights. The fight earned Golovkin $400k and a consolatory $290k for Stevens. Prior to the Golovkin vs Stevens fight the bookmakers bet was on the Kazakhstan boxer. The odds were 1.13 for Golovkin’s win and 7.19 for Stevens’. Golovkin said he will show a slugfest in the ring with Stevens and kept his promise. “In this fight there will be a knockout. I can’t say who’ll be knocked out, might be him or me. It’s boxing. But I want to knockout Stevens,” said Golovking prior to the fight. After the tough victory, Golovkin said he was ready to fight any boxer.
