Tengrinews.kz – Kazakh athletes earned 255 thousand dollars for their performance at the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina.
Under the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, athletes and their coaches are entitled to monetary bonuses for their Olympic performances in accordance with their places in the competition.
Since only places from first to sixth receive prize money, out of Kazakhstan’s 36 participants at the Games only two will receive payments: speed skater Nadezhda Morozova (6th place in the 3000 m) and figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov (gold in men’s singles).
For sixth place, the athlete and her coach will each receive 5 thousand dollars (about 2.5 million tenge), while an Olympic gold medal in Kazakhstan is valued at 250 thousand dollars (about 124.5 million tenge).

It should be recalled that Mikhail Shaidorov’s gold was historic: it is Kazakhstan’s first Olympic victory in figure skating and only the second Winter Olympic gold in the country’s history since independence.

When will the athletes receive the payments
It should also be recalled that after the previous Olympic Games, which took place in the summer of 2024, Kazakh medal winners had to wait eight months for their due payments: they received their prize money only in April 2025 — after athletes began publicly stating that they had not received any funds.
By law, the state has the right to delay payments for up to one year; this time is needed for all anti-doping checks to be completed and for the allocation of funds from the reserve budget to be formalized.
The exact payment date is not known at this time.
