Tengrinews.kz - 138 athletes from Kazakhstan will participate in the Winter Asian Games in Harbin (China), competing for 51 sets of medals. This was announced by the Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabossynov.
Speaking during a government meeting, Myrzabossynov said that the Kazakhstan team plans to participate in all 6 sports in 10 disciplines, with the exception of snowboarding.
"The team consists of 138 athletes (72 men and 66 women) who will compete for 51 sets of medals. For comparison, 116 people from Kazakhstan participated in the previous Asian Games in 2017 in Sapporo (Japan). Our team has been in the top 4 at the Asian Winter Games since 1996. At the previous Asian Games in 2017 in Sapporo, Kazakhstan won 32 medals and took 4th place in the overall team ranking," the minister said.
More than half of the delegation are from Astana, Almaty and the East Kazakhstan region, Myrzabossynov added.
At the same time, the minister emphasized that in order to prepare well for these games, the national winter sports teams held 137 training camps.
