Golubev has won over Canadian Eric Chvojka 3:6, 6:3, 6:2 in the first qualification round. This match started on January 11, but then was stopped because of the rain at the end of the third set. Kazakhstan tennis player will play against Moldavian Radu Albot in the next qualification round. Earlier another Kazakhstan tennis player Yuriy Shukin lost his qualifying match to Australian Carsten Ball 6:4, 3:6, 5:7. Women’s qualification round took place today, January 12. Yaroslava Shvedova and Sesil Karatantcheva represented Kazakhstan there, but neither one of them manage to advance to the next qualification round.
