On July 26, Gennady Golovkin TKOed Australian Daniel Geale in the third round at the Madison Square Garden. It marked Golovkin’s 30th fight and brought his KO rate to 90%.

On July 26, Gennady Golovkin TKOed Australian Daniel Geale in the third round at the Madison Square Garden. It marked Golovkin’s 30th fight and brought his KO rate to 90%.

Before fighting against Geale, GGG said that he planned to have 3 fights in 2014. The Kazakhstani boxer added that he wanted to have the last fight of the year as a PPV.

Julio Cesat Chaviz Jr

In Spring, negotiations over the Golovkin-Chavez fight failed, because Top Rank could not pay the money Chavez asked for the fight. Yet, Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez said that a fight between Golovkin and Chavez could take place sometime in the future. Chavez who started his career in professional boxing at the age of 17 has had 51 fights so far and won 48 fights (32 KOs). In his last two fights, Chavez won by unanimous decision Brian Vera. In 2012, Chavez lost to Sergio Martinez by unanimous decision. Other two fights were declared no contest.

Miguel Cotto

Cotto, also known as Junito or El Angel was challenged by Golovkin after the Kazakhstani boxer TKOed Geale. The Puerto Rican boxer is a WBC middleweight champion. His won his title in the fight against Sergio Martinez on July 7 at Madison Square Garden. So far, Cotto has had 43 fights and 39 victories (32 KOs). Cotto lost to Antonio Margarito, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr and Austin Trout. The 33 y.o. boxer debuted in 2001.

Sam Soliman

The defeat of his countryman did no leave Soliman unmoved. The IBF middleweight champion from Australia now wants to fight GGG to unify middleweight titles. The 40 y.o. boxer has an impressive record of 53 fights with 44 victories (18 KOs). Soliman won the IBF title in the fight against Felix Sturm. He debuted as a professional boxer in 1997. In addition to his career in professional boxing, Soliman is ISKA and WKA world champion in kickboxing.

Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler said that they would negotiate a unifying fight between Golovkin and Soliman.

Peter Quillin

Undefeated WBO middleweight champion Quillin could be another great opponent for Golovkin. Quillin won his title in 2012 after defeating Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam. He has defended his title three times so far. The American boxer debuted in 2005 and has had 31 fights with 22 KOs. In September, Quillin is fighting against Andy Lee.

Floyd Mayweather Jr

Mayweather was named the best boxer in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012 and 2013 by the Ring magazine. The undefeated WBC and WBA welterweight has had 46 fights with 26 KOs. He debuted in October of 1996. Maywether’s next fight is scheduled to September where he will once again fight against Marcos Rene Maidana. In May, Mayweather defeated Maidana by majority decision.
