The names of Gennady Golovkin’s possible opponents have been revealed, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti. After the Golovkin-Adama fight, Tom Loeffler, GGG’s promoter named Danial Geale (29-2, 15 KOs) from Australia, Andy Lee (31-2, 22 KOs) from Ireland and James Kirkland (32-1, 28 KOs) from the United States as the possible opponents of the Kazakh middleweight champion. Sergio Martinez, Andre Ward and Adonis Stevenson were also among the possible rivals. The fight against Adama was Golovkin’s 29th fight and 29th win. The Kazakh boxer often referred to as the Tyson of the middleweight category has repeatedly expressed his wish to fight against Sergio Martinez. However, Martinez is preparing to fight Miguel Cotto on July 7. Geale turned down the fight against Golovkin claiming that the Australians will be watching UFC on that date and as he told The Boxing Scene, he does not want “to go over there and do something great and nobody see it”. Kirkland is also said to have rejected the proposal to fight Golovkin on April 26 at Madison Square Garden. This leaves Andy Lee who is willing to fight against GGG and is confident that he will come the first loss for the unbeaten Kazakh boxing star. The upcoming fight at the Madison Square Garden will mark Golovkin’s 30th fight.
